next HCJ cd idea
I love the diversity of Harry and his trio/ band--and, based on what they did with 'Songs I Heard', wouldn't it be great to take the best show tunes of all time and arrange and record them, applying his own unique sound and style? I think this would be amazing. When he plays 'It Might As Well Be Spring', or 'Some Enchanted Evening' or 'On The Street Where You Live', his arrangements and style just add a new dimension to already great songs--I'd love to hear a whole collection done by Harry and the band.

When I hear that Harry has released a new recording, I just buy it. Period. I like how he has grown into his own self over the years & know that I'll enjoy his latest project. I have most of his CDs and have seen Harry perform numerous times (including closing NOLA JazzFest in 2007). Here is my suggestion for his next CD - a live CD.
There is an energy & passion to Harry's live performances that just can't be captured in his studio recordings. Case in point: when I first listened to "Your Songs" my reaction was mixed. Great arrangements, vocals, and instrumentals, as always, but it didn't have the emotion/energy or whatever you call that feeling that pulls you into the music. Then I heard him perform the album live in Clearwater, FL and it was a night vs day difference.
And WOW - anyone that has seen Harry and his band play jazz knows the energy is incredible and infectious.
If you read these posts, Harry, please consider releasing a live CD. I know it's not a new idea, but one that your fans would welcome.
