Wolf Trap

In a word--awesome. Since the Baltimore show, I've joined the fan club. It is well worth it. We had front-row seats which added a totally new dimension to the concert. The set list was very similar to the winter show set list.

Harry opened with "We Are in Love" and followed it by some new concert charts of the "Your Songs" tracks. He and the band performed "The Way You Look Tonight"; "And I Love Her" and "Smile". Since Roger left the band, the song was re-worked to feature Wayne Bergeron on lead.

Some of the tracks from "Only You" were also featured; and a great new live version of "And I Love You So". Lucien Barbarin came out to contribute some vocals and solo trombone, and in the ensuing NOLA set, the new lead trumpet Mark Braud got to strut his stuff. Man, his sound is a good fit. Many fans are disappointed that Roger left--but Mr. Braud has the chops to fill that space in the back row, for sure!

Harry provided plenty of banter and interaction with the audience, true to his style of customizing each show and avoiding the "canned" ad-libs. He threw in some New Orleans deep cuts like "Junco Partner", "Didn't He Ramble" and a new arrangement of "Nowhere With Love".

The last set included "Besame Mucho", "All the Way" and "Come By Me" followed by "Bourbon Street Parade" for the encore.

Once again, Harry set the bar high at yet another 2010 venue. We haven't seen him too many times, but thought it topped the list of shows we've seen. 5 stars. On to the Neil Simon Theatre!
